Privacy Policy

What this website collects, why it is collected, who else sees it, and what you can ask Margalit to do about it. Written for this site, not copied from a template.

Who we are and how to reach us

The Margalit Method is the coaching practice of Margalit Grunberger, an ICF trained professional coach working with founders, CEOs and executives. The practice is based in Los Angeles, California.

This policy covers margalitmethod.com and everything attached to it: the contact form, the speaking inquiry form, The Leader's Hub preview registration, the email newsletter, the guides you can download, the booking tool, and the analytics that run in the background.

Margalit decides what this site collects and why. Under California law that makes her the business. One person is answerable for it, and here is how to reach her.

What information is collected, and how

Information you give

You can read most of this site without telling us anything. You hand over information only when you choose to do one of these things.

  • Send the contact form. Your name, your email address, your phone number if you add it, and whatever you write in the message.
  • Send a speaking inquiry. Your name and organization, your contact details, the event date, the location, the audience, and any detail you choose to share about the brief.
  • Register for a Leader's Hub preview session. Your name, your business, your email address and phone number, and anything you tell us about the company you run.
  • Subscribe to the newsletter. Your first name, your email address, and the fact that you ticked the consent box, with the date you ticked it.
  • Download a guide. Your first name and email address, given in exchange for the PDF. The Question Vault and the peer group self audit both work this way.
  • Book a call. The scheduling tool takes your name, email address, time zone, the slot you pick, and anything you type into the booking notes.
  • Write or call. The content of your email or the note Margalit makes of your call.

Two things this site does not do. It takes no payments, because there is no checkout here. The Leader's Hub deposit and any coaching fee are handled away from this website through a separate payment provider, so a card number never touches this site. And it does not ask for sensitive information such as health, race, religion, or financial account details. Please do not put anything confidential into a web form. Call or email instead.

Information collected automatically

Some information is recorded whether or not you fill anything in, by the web host and by the analytics tool.

  • Your IP address, shortened where the analytics tool allows it.
  • Your browser type and version, device type, operating system and screen size.
  • The page or search that sent you here, the pages you look at, how long you stay, and the links you click.
  • Approximate location, at city or region level, worked out from the IP address. Not a street address.
  • The date and time of your visit, in the server logs the web host keeps.
  • Whatever is stored in cookies, which is covered further down.

Why it is collected

Nothing here is collected because it might be useful one day. Each purpose has a reason attached to it.

The third parties that receive your information

This is a small practice. Information goes to the services that make the website and the coaching work, and to nobody else, unless the law requires it. Each one is described by what it does.

  • Email marketing platform. Holds your first name, email address, the date and source of your consent, and whether you opened or clicked an email. It sends the newsletter and delivers the guides.
  • Scheduling tool. Holds the name, email address, time zone and booking notes for a curiosity call, and writes the appointment into Margalit's calendar. It is embedded on the contact page, so loading that page contacts the tool.
  • Website analytics. Counts visits and page views and reports on them in aggregate.
  • Search performance tool. Reports which search terms bring people to the site. It reports totals, never an individual.
  • Web host. Stores the site files, passes form submissions along, and keeps server logs and backups.
  • Email provider. Carries and stores the correspondence between you and Margalit.
  • Payment provider, away from this site. Takes the Leader's Hub deposit and coaching fees. It keeps its own record of the payment. This website never sees a card number.
  • Professional advisers and public authorities. An accountant, a lawyer, or an authority, where the law requires it or where Margalit needs advice.

Margalit does not sell your personal information. She does not share it for cross context behavioral advertising either. No list from this site is rented, traded or sold, and there is no advertising network running on these pages.

Cookies and analytics

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep so it can remember something. This site uses three kinds.

  • Strictly necessary. Keeps the site working, remembers a cookie choice if you make one, and helps protect the forms from automated abuse. These cannot be switched off from inside the site.
  • Analytics. Counts visits and pages so Margalit knows that thirty people read The Leader's Hub page last week. They are not used to build an advertising profile of you.
  • Third party embeds. The booking tool, and any podcast or video player on the As Seen In page, set their own cookies the moment the embed loads. Those cookies belong to that company and are governed by its policy, not this one.

How to opt out

  • Your browser. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking everything may stop the booking embed from loading.
  • Analytics. Google publishes a browser add on that stops Google Analytics collecting anything from you, on any site: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, this site treats it as an opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. Since nothing is sold or shared, that request is already satisfied.
  • Do Not Track. There is no agreed standard for how a site should answer a Do Not Track browser signal, so this site does not respond to one. California's Online Privacy Protection Act asks every commercial site to say so plainly, which is why this line is here.

How long information is kept

  • Contact and speaking inquiries. Up to three years after the last time we spoke, then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscribers. Until you unsubscribe. After that a minimal record stays on a suppression list so you are not added back by mistake.
  • Preview session registrations. Up to two years, so you can be told when the next group forms, unless you ask us to stop sooner.
  • Guide downloads. Treated the same way as newsletter records.
  • Coaching and membership records. For the length of the engagement, and afterwards for as long as tax, accounting and insurance rules require.
  • Analytics. For the retention period set inside the analytics account, commonly fourteen months for user level data.
  • Server logs. For the short period the web host sets, usually weeks rather than years.

How information is kept secure

  • The whole site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into a form is encrypted while it travels.
  • Accounts that hold your information use long unique passwords and two factor authentication wherever the vendor offers it.
  • Access is limited to Margalit, and to the small number of people who work with her under a written confidentiality obligation when a task needs it.
  • No card numbers sit on this website, because no payment is taken on it.
  • Coaching notes are kept away from the website and are treated as confidential.

No website and no email system is completely secure, and any policy that claims otherwise is overselling. If a breach happens that puts your rights at risk, you will be told, and the relevant authority will be told, inside the time the law allows.

Your rights under California law

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the following rights over the information this site holds about you.

  • The right to know. What categories of information have been collected about you, where they came from, why they were collected, who received them, and the specific pieces held.
  • The right to delete. You can ask for your information to be deleted. Some records have to be kept, for example an invoice a tax rule requires, and you will be told if that applies.
  • The right to correct. If something held about you is wrong, you can have it fixed.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Margalit does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross context behavioral advertising. There is nothing here to opt out of. It is written plainly so there is no doubt about it.
  • The right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. This site does not collect sensitive personal information as California law defines it, so there is nothing to limit.
  • The right to non-discrimination. Use any of these rights and you get the same service, the same price and the same attention as anyone else. Nothing is withheld and no price moves because you asked.

What has been collected in the last twelve months

  • Identifiers. Name, email address, phone number, IP address.
  • Commercial information. Limited to what you enquired about, downloaded or booked.
  • Internet activity. Pages viewed, links clicked, referring page.
  • Approximate geolocation. City or region level, from the IP address.
  • Professional information. Whatever you chose to type about your company or your role.

These come from three places: you, your browser and device, and the service providers listed above. They are used for the business purposes in the table further up. None of them are sold.

How to use one of these rights

Email margalit@margalitmethod.com with "privacy request" in the subject line, or call (818) 693-4557. You will get an acknowledgement within ten business days and an answer within forty five calendar days. If more time is needed, up to another forty five days, you will be told why before the first deadline passes. There is no charge.

Identity is verified by matching the email address already on file, and by one or two further questions only where you have asked for specific pieces of information. An authorised agent can act for you with your written permission.

Children's privacy

This site is for adults who run businesses. It is not aimed at children, and information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 16. If you think a child has submitted something through this site, email margalit@margalitmethod.com and it will be deleted.

This site links out to podcast episodes, the booking tool, LinkedIn, and the organizations Margalit facilitates for. The moment you follow one of those links you are on somebody else's site, under their policy and not this one. Their privacy practices are their own. Reading their policy is worth the minute it takes.

Changes to this policy

This policy changes when the site changes. The date at the top says when it was last edited. If a change matters to you, a new service that receives your information for example, subscribers will be told by email before it takes effect. Earlier versions can be sent on request.

How to make a request

One address handles all of it: margalit@margalitmethod.com, or call (818) 693-4557. Say what you want, a copy of your information, a correction, deletion, or simply to come off the list. The unsubscribe link at the foot of every newsletter also works, and it is faster.
